Um, hi. I’ll make it quick. I’m currently sitting in LAX waiting for my flight to Boston. Tomorrow night begins my week long immersion into focusing on nothing but writing for a whole week. A whole week. I think this is the first time in years that I’ve taken days off for something that is actually about bettering myself and i am insanely stoked. Earlier this year, my fiction professor passed around a brochure for Juniper Summer Writing Institute at UMass Amherst. I didn’t think I had a chance, but thanks to a ton of support from said professor and the brilliant people I am lucky enough to associate with giving me feedback and help when I needed it, here I am. This week includes a 12 person workshop group with the author Brian Everson, daily craft sessions, author readings, open mic nights, actual rain, staying with a distant sorority sister whom I’ve never met, the Emily Dickinson museum, and so many other things I am immensely excited for. This seemed as good a time as ever to obsessively document everything, which is a habit I have become increasingly hooked on. So, stayed tuned maybe? For now, I’m just gonna take in all the adorably gross couples and handlebar mustaches that come with airport travel and enjoy what I have desperately needed: Time to think and people who don’t know my name.
